Marolyn Lozano’s views in Cornell West
Cornell West shows pontification through out his interview. He begins with saying, “Believe that you will not mix yourself with mediocrity.” This quote means that you are not supposed to try to fit in with the others, which you need to know that you will always try to be better. Another quote that he begins to say is that “People need to ask themselves if they believe that living will always be connected with giving.” This quote is saying that many people need to stop settling for house slaves and try to give to others. He says that success is everything. I agree with this statement, however you shouldn’t try to harm others because you want to be successful. He is asked between the differences involving success and greatness. He begins talking about how many people get distracted with trying to be perfect and never realize that it poisons ones soul. In addition, that greatness will make you a better person because you will settle from a field slave and become a kind person. I agree with this because if you try to become successful, you will finish off hurting other people. While on the other hand if you try to become a better person, you are trying to help others out. He also talks about that success makes you brainwashed and makes you think you are superior to others like a house slave mentality would do. The fact that many people are not worried about being a descent human being but being superior to everyone else.

Carl Sharif,
Dear Carl Sharif,
In the "DownTown Newark" article, you bring up the topic of how in Newark, New Jersey has been having many changes. The fact is that I agree with the changes, however i believe that there will believe that there will also be many disadvantages that come through the way. The reasons that still happens is that many New Yorkers are coming to live here to New Jersey is less expensive both economically and physically. The fact is that many New Yorkers are investing money to build new things. This is a preposterous idea because at the same time if the New Yorkers are coming here to live the rest of their lives, they have to know that we always lived here and they can't kick us out. Change will impact us in so many good ways and bad ways. This is extremely inconcievable because many people here who are indigenous to this town will have to leave because other people will want to move in. If all of these investments come along through out here in Newark, wouldn't Newark become another New York? New York is overflowing with so many people. If Newark is really wide spread, Newark wouldn't be the same. New York is filled with investments, property, and money. If Newark also becomes filled up with those things, there will be no exact difference. Newark would become so different, that the people that live here already will definetly move out. But in my school, North Star Academy in Newark, New Jersey, my class has read your article and felt that it is a very important issue. We would really like to have you over as a guest speaker to speak to us about this situation.
Sincerly,
Marolyn Lozano
